The homeowners of a 1920 Foursquare asked us to remodel two baths: a full guest bath and a master bath so tiny the wife said she “stood on the toilet to brush her teeth”. They wanted both bathrooms to be fresh and modern, yet in keeping with the historic character of their home.
Our design solution for enlarging the master bath was to remove walls and capture an adjacent bedroom. This tripled the size of the bath and added a spacious closet as well. Highlights included a double vanity with quartz top, custom doors and casings to match the home’s originals, and a new private water closet.
The refreshed guest bath featured a vintage black-and-white hex tile floor. In both baths, tile mosaics on the shower walls doubled as art.
